Letter from IMA President
Chattanooga IMA Members,
January 13, 2014…I attended the Atlanta Chapter meeting at Total Wine and More where IMA Chair, Bill Knese, CPA, CMA, CFM, was the key-note speaker. He shared his past experience as CFO of an employee-owned manufacturing company, Angus Industries. He talked about how his CMA was beneficial in his career at Angus and how it especially helped in his capital budgeting and management responsibilities. Bill has also filled many roles over the years with the IMA and he is a huge advocate for the global expansion of the CMA program. If you’d like to read more about Bill, there is an article in the August 2013 Strategic Finance magazine about him (Bill Knese/August 2013).
January 22, 2014…We received mixed reviews on our January meeting venue...the food was good, the speaker was awesome, but the meeting place was not private enough. We are changing back to the Doubletree for our February meeting, which is our IMA/CMA meeting.
February 26, 2014…Our key-note speaker for this event is Marcine Johnson, CPA and Atlanta Chapter board member. Marcine will provide an IMA Update. She will also cover what it takes to get your CMA (Certified Management Accountant) designation. The CMA is one of the most widely recognized benefits available to qualified IMA members. It is a highly regarded program and gives the holder a competitive career advantage. The cost to attend this event is $20 (Students $5) and includes 1-hr of IMA CPE and lunch. Please RSVP by Friday, February 21st on our reservations page at https://sites.google.com/site/chattanoogaima/reservations. Very important…If you are unable to make your reservation using the link above or if you need to cancel your reservation, email email@example.com before the meeting.
Upcoming events…on March 26th, author Pam Mantone, a senior manager and forensic specialist with the Decosimo Advisory Services will provide a Fraud Update and on April 16th, Chris Hopkins, CFA will provide an Economic Update. I hope that you will mark your calendars and plan to attend these events.
